The Developmental Assessment of Young Children II (DAYC-II) is a developmental criterion-referenced assessment tool for a variety of functional and educational uses, including child assessment, evaluation, student academic placement, Individual Educational Plans (IEP’s), Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP’s), instructional planning, and to determine eligibility for early intervention and pre-school programs. Our on-line course will assist you and help ‘fast-track’ your learning curve, so that you will more easily learn about this valuable instrument and how best to apply it to the children under your care. Similar to a Monarch or Cliff notes-type review, our online course and certification provides the essential information in a condensed and more easily digestible format. This course is a review and training module for the Developmental Assessment of Young Children II.  It meets annual State Early Intervention requirements for continuing education hours in assessment and evaluation.  Differing from its predecessor, this upgraded version permits the examiner to use the subdomain or domain scores that interests the examiner. Other new features of the DAYC-2 include:
  • Simplified Ceiling
  • Many validity studies, such as the test's specificity and sensitivity have been provided
  • Domains may be independently assessed, testing an area of concern or all five domains. This may also be used in arena assessment, with each discipline using the evaluation tool independently.
  • Subdomain scores are provided for receptive language and expressive language within the Communication Domain and for fine and gross motor as part of the physical developmental domain. Examiners may select the subdomain or domain scores that interest them.
The DAYC II makes it easy for educators to assess, over the course of 25-45 minutes, the motor development of infants, toddlers, and children up to 5 years of age. In addition, the DAYC helps:
  • Diagnose delays, disabilities, giftedness and other exceptionalities
  • Determine present level of performance
  • Write IFSP’s & IEP’s and monitor progress
  • Yields standard scores, percentile ranking, and age equivalents
  • Support alternate assessment needs
